Vrtti May 2016 - IYISF Needs Your Support |
Dear Yoga Friends, Those of you who have received these writings over the years know that they typically share musings on yoga, life, and philosophy. This time I'm writing to ask for your support for the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. IYISF is a unique decades-old hub of education, community, and well-being. Unlike for-profit yoga studios and holistic health businesses, IYISF relies on fundraising to a significant extent for its continuing operation. It may seem a reach to compare IYISF with institutions like KQED, SFMOMA, or SFJAZZ, but for those who have experienced the deep changes that come from the practice and teachings of Iyengar yoga, I hope the analogy is not too much of a "stretch". IYISF is holding its biggest fundraiser of the year, the Yogathon, on Saturday, June 18th, during which a team of teachers will guide participants through 108 yoga poses. Please consider sponsoring me in support of IYISF, by clicking on this link and donating what you can: www.crowdrise.com/2016-yogathon/fundraiser/chadbalch. Other ways you can support include participating in the Yogathon yourself by joining the team on the Yogathon CrowdRise page, or by donating directly to IYISF. IYISF's public classes, teacher training program, workshops, and culture have molded and influenced yoga practitioners and teachers worldwide. I hope you will join this and future efforts to support IYISF, and be part of the institute's evolving community presence in San Francisco and beyond! Namaste, Chad |
